Skylab Media Productions is a small media company specializing in aerials, events, and small business media and marketing. Our mission is to become the media and marketing company of choice for local events and small businesses. We help small businesses in two ways:

Skylab Media Productions is FAA Part 107 licensed, registered and insured. We are also a California Boat licensed company. Based out of Chula Vista, California we serve all of San Diego County from the land, sea, and air, literally.

We have been in business since 2020, when we started Skylab Aerial Services, a drone photography and videography company. As reflected in our portfolio, our work evolved from aerials to sports to commercial production.
Since 2022, Skylab Media Productions have participated and/or produced aftermovies, stand up comedy shows, cooking shows, documentaries, reality shows, and small business advertisements.
In 2024, Skylab Media Productions became certified in digital marketing, and subsequently incorporated those strategies into our media production offerings.
We have training, experience, and/or certifications in cinematography, photography, drones, editing, business branding, and marketing.
We are experienced in the following programs: Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects, and Topaz Labs Artificial Intelligence Imagery Programs.

Our Photography & Videography Experience
We have been in business since 2020, when we started Skylab Aerial Services, a drone photography and videography company. As reflected in our portfolio, our work evolved from aerials to sports to commercial production.
Since 2022, Skylab Media Productions have participated and/or produced after movies, stand-up comedy shows, cooking shows, documentaries, reality shows, conferences, and small business advertisements.
Our Aerial Photography & Videography Experience
Our aerial experience started in 2016 when the owner, Earl, purchased toy drones for his two boys. Neither of his sons were interested, but dad who also attended flight school in 2005, was all about flying drones. He would fly the drones daily seeing how far and how high (sorry FAA) he could get them. Inspired by aerial photography and aerial inspections, he quickly upgraded from his toy drones to a DJI Phantom 3 Pro and then a DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.
With his new drones and armed with a membership to Drone U, his hobby immediately evolved into commercial work under the business name of Skylab Aerial Services. The business quickly grew with additional services such as sports photography, event photography, and small business commercial advertisements.
As we became comfortable working in these niches, we gained satisfied clients and our overall credibility grew. This prompted us to evolve the business into more than aerials, and from that, Skylab Media Productions was born.
Skylab Media Productions has experience flying all types of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) ranging from FPV drones, drones for inspections, and drones for cinematography. We have flown for government, corporate, and private sectors from California to Texas. People have trusted our imagery for local advertisement, websites, and government use. Our professional background and unique qualifications also allow us to do projects that require confidentiality. Skylab Media Productions is one of the most sought-after aerial photography/videography businesses in our San Diego.

Our Event Photography & Videography Experience
Our event photography experience started with our church as we would volunteer as a photographer. This experience, which started on a Canon T7 Rebel, was happening at the same time we began shooting sports. Volunteering for our church taught us how to shoot low light events, outdoor events, how to capture emotional moments, how to shoot from within a crowd, how to shoot concerts, how to shoot behind-the-scenes, and how to be a Director of Photography. Skylab Media Productions has since done photoshoots and video production for comedy shows, concerts, leadership conferences, charity events and more.
Shooting for church has taught us photographic storytelling. Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words, but our photography turns those words into a personal story for your target audience, a page for your website, a social media post, and even your personal brand.

Sports Photography & Videography
We cannot talk about event photography and videography experience without talking about sports! Where church taught us how to capture and communicate emotional story telling. Shooting sports taught us how to capture and communicate intense action.
We had great mentors of sports photography, especially Manzano Photography, a photographer out of Chula Vista, CA. He taught us how to capture the exact moment of action no matter where you are on the field. We also learned how to capture fast movement in low light which is an art in itself. Being a sports photographer is one of the best photography jobs that we have done, especially for football.
Our sports photography skills developed so rapidly that we soon became a sought-after photographer in our area. We were also invited to be one of the professional photographers for the United States Army All-Star game in Fresno, California. Our sports photography journey ultimately led us to semi-pro football.
Our sports videography game became equally great. We learned how to create hype and highlight reels that garnered views by NCAA and NAIA schools on all levels throughout the west coast and as far east as Louisiana. One of our highlight reels garnered over 10,000 views and one of our hype reels garnered over 4,000 views!

Our Marketing Experience
In 2023, we noticed there were times when we would spend hours creating and perfecting content with our clients only for the completed project to sit in a hard drive unused. We noticed our budget friendly clients did not know why they were hiring us except to say we have a professional photographer or videographer. We also noticed our high-dollar clients were always asking us for help with marketing, but we had no experience. After a year of this, we realized half of our clients were relying on us to provide photo and video thinking it would solve their marketing problem, which it did not because there was no strategy, and the other half of our clients was pushing us away because we did not have a marketing strategy for the photos and videos we were producing.
From these trials and errors, and by way of growing in the industry and getting good mentors, we began learning our client's basic needs, which is basic marketing. Learning marketing became fun! Marketing was so much fun that the owner enrolled in school to learn more. We learned everything from branding, marketing campaigns, funnels, SEO, using media to drive marketing strategies and much more. Learning marketing gave us a better understanding of clients problems and how to provide them with a well-rounded solution using media.
In many ways, Skylab Media Productions is a full-service solution to small media marketing needs.
